Man stabbed after attempted carjacking at Taco Bell

A group attempting a carjacking stabbed a man in Phoenix Monday afternoon.
The man pulled into a Taco Bell parking lot near 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road around 5 p.m. due to car troubles and was approached by three men and one women, said Phoenix Police Department Lt. John White.
One carried a weapon and demanded the victim's car, White said.
The man tried to flee and was stabbed in the back. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The suspects did not take the car and fled on foot.

I think this truly show the intelligence of criminals. Why would someone try to car jack a guy who was having car troubles.
I'm curious (spelled it right!) if you think this a shoot or no shoot situation Mike. This just goes to show that even if you try and give them your property, you can still get hurt.

Im gotta be honest, i dont know what i would have done. Theres not enough dtail in the story. Did they have him cornerd by his car with their knife out already, so he had to push though them to get away. is that why he got stabed.... I feel if someone is blocking my escape route/cornering/following me then it is a draw your gun sitution, if they see that and continue to advance then it is a shoot. But if i dont have time to consider all of that it would be a shoot situtaion first. But i also wonder if this dude was freaking out about his car and these pieces of $hit saw that and took advantage of this clueless victim. What if he would have saw them on their approach. Alot of the time simple eye contact will deter a criminal. They see that i see that they are there and they will not get the jump on me. One more sheep that was attacked by the wolfs. Maybe now he will be a sheepdog.
I kind of set you up on this question. This is my area of town, but i was not working that night. I would suspect there is some other type of activity going on based on the little information on the story. Next time we get together, remind me and I'll tell you why. I'll also try and get more info when I get to work tommorrow.
