Gun Show Loophole

NYC did an undercover scheme to show that anyone can buy a gun at a gun show. Suprise Suprise. Its been done before and it is something that needs to be dealt with.

I HAVE NO PROBLEM GETTING RID OF THE GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE.

I know I know, lets get ready to rumble.

Until society conforms to my great way of thinking, I am content with the back ground check and that should include buying a gun at a gun show.

What about private party sales at a gun show. Is that the issue? whats the difference between me selling my gun to someone i meet at the show or waiting to leave the show and selling it in the parking lot. Not saying that i don't agree with the background check. But the only way i see to curb this problem is to ban private party sales, and that is not an option...is it??? Can someone tell me a good way to get rid of this problem that in my opinion goes way further than gun shows.

I just received a 5 year study on violent assaults against officers that kind of relates to this topic. I know it is only a study of police officers, and not regular citizens, but keep in mind that very few violent felonies have a "true" victim. I am not including armed robbery in this equation, because I do believe this crime can include a completely innocent victim.

Part of the report states the following:

Predominately handguns were used in the assaults on officers and all but one were obtained illegally, usually in street transactions or in thefts. In contrast to media myth, none of the firearms in the study was obtained from gun shows. What was available "was the overriding factor in weapon choice," the report says. Only 1 offender hand-picked a particular gun "because he felt it would do the most damage to a human being."

Researcher Davis , in a presentation and discussion for the International Assn. of Chiefs of Police, noted that none of the attackers interviewed was "hindered by any law--federal, state or local--that has ever been established to prevent gun ownership. They just laughed at gun laws."

In my humble opinion, if the so called loop hole is closed, it will have the same effect as every other gun law.........NOTHING! Why?....because their criminals! If not one criminal who shot at a cop in five years obtained his gun at a gun show, i don't think it's a problem. And I agree that it's the first step towards banning the private sale of guns by individuals.

Point made and I am properly chastised.

Again, I point out that if we STOP crime rather than deal with crime we would all be a lot safer.

In NYC you need guns to fend off the people at designer name sample sales.
